You are welcome to book one hour appointment for a general health consultation. Just let me know this when you book in. I cannot book anyone into my diary without a booking deposit. Because I only work half days in the mornings, my time is precious. I also lecture, visit doctors and primary care to educate and write articles so some weeks I may only have 3 mornings for clients. Appointments can be online via zoom, skype, google meets, microsoft teams or watsapp video as I do not examine you physically or they can be face to face at F91A2V5 in Sligo.
The first consultation includes me getting your full medical history, reviewing your bloods, previous tests, your current diet/lifestyle/medication/supplements, giving nutrition, stress management advice, advising how liver and other organs are effecting your health, discussing what we need to look at, what tests, medication and hormonal approaches may be needed to healing and ordering of any tests as well as referral letters for your gastroenterologist or GP if needed.
I am training to be a functional medicine doctor, Im not a medical doctor, I dont advise on medical issues, im a scientist and iv a long history of dealing with gut health, mental health skin health and hormonal health issues. I bridge the gap between the medical and the holistic health models covering areas within my scope of functional medicine, nutritional approaches, holistic treatments, some parts of gastroenterology, endocrinology, mental health, I discuss medication and psychotherapy approaches within psychiatry to calm the enteric nervous system. I teach you how the body works, how to selfcare, how to heal yourself from the inside out.
There is no point coming to me unless you are ready to invest some time in looking after yourself, slow down the pace of life, ready to change some of your lifestyle habits, maybe some dietary changes, do a couple of tests and commit to making changes etc. Food alone is only one part. I dont do diet sheets. I work with your existing diet to improve it. I dont believe in many supplements. I generally dont recommend supplements because of how they weigh on the liver-the important detoxification pathway of the body. Wellness is not a quick fix as many systems in the body have to be addressed to get well. I help you work on your digestion, absorbtion, detoxification pathways, your lymphatic, adrenal, enteric nervous system to help your body recover from illness that begins in the gut. It takes time to get ones body into healing mode, it took me 3 years in total to get my gut well. I will only work with you if you are serious about taking your health in your hands and if life is too busy maybe just mention this at the start of your appointment so I can address only a select few things for you to do at home.
