Kids Friendly Beaches to Visit in Sligo in 2019

Beach Days are the Best Days☀️ Dare I say we actually came across a beach this summer🏊 that we almost prefer over our beloved local Lissadell Beach in Sligo. 🧜”Mermaids Cove”. It is 18km north from Carney Co Sligo. The most perfect spot for smallies. Literally Only a minutes walk from car to the beach. The safest rock pools beside the sand filled with mini shrimps🦐 baby crabs🦀 and sea anemones. Hours spent fishing! I cannot believe we haven’t been here before. So secluded and safe. For anyone looking for it. It’s on Google maps and is situated beside a caravan park. Mermaids Cove Caravan Park is situated approximately 7 miles from Bundoran on the main Sligo N15 road. From Bundoran take the main N15 road, you will see a T junction for Mullaghmore on the right hand side, take that junction and follow the road until you see the entrance for Mermaids Cove.

Lissadell Beach has been along favorite because it is so sheltered. It is

a small beach. In 10 seconds from hopping out of the car you hit the sand. It is full of locals and their dogs chilling out. When the tide is fully in it is still so shallow and it never gets big tidal waves so the little ones can enjoy themselves while mum sits on the beach. It is 15 mins drive north from Sligo Town. Turn left after you pass Lauras Restaurant in Carney and it is only 5 minutes from there. There are picnic tables and areas to pitch a tent or camper van if you like. The only negative being when the tide is out you have a long walk to get to the water. Stunning views. Some of the Best Views of Sligo from here.

For any of you interested in snorkelling Raghly is a great spot. I’m a “Fairweather” watersports kinda gal and it is one of our 🌍favorite spots to Snorkel in Sligo. The water at Raghly Harbour Co Sligo is so clean and clear🐟. The best point to get in is to “climb over the stone wall at the far right of the harbour”, drop down onto the 🏖️Stony shore and 🏊swim right along the coast. You can stay shallow and visibility is great. Lots of coloured seaweeds, lichen, shells, crabs🦀, some fish. You can camp or put your caravan here. It has a stony beach no sand. Theres a lovely harbour with boats. Keep small children on a leash as its unprotected. But soo worth a visit. Very few tourists have found this place. A real gem of a find. The views of Sligo are Unreal from here. The country roads around it are super for pushing a buggy or small kids on bikes.

Streedagh Beach is great for older kids who want to body board or

surf. It is a very long expanse of beach great for long walks. A bit of a trek with bags over stones etc but on a day with no wind you will love it and you will always find a private spot as it is so big.

I love sharing my travel tips with all you mums out there when I am not treating clients in the salon. If you get a few hours off to treat yourself you can make an appointment for a beauty treat with myself I am located with 15 mins drive of all of these beaches.
Looking forward to meeting you and treating you,
